Aviation Concepts

Aviation Concepts

Concept refers to an idea or abstraction that represents a real-world entity or phenomenon. It is often used to group related terms and provide semantic meaning, and reduce duplication of text in the definitions.

  • In a data dictionary:
A concept helps organize and relate multiple terms under a common theme or domain. It provides a single, authoritative definition by storing it once, ensuring consistency across all related terms.

  • Example:
    Concept: Aircraft
Aircraft might be included in terms like Taxitime, Takeoff, Landing, Parking Position, etc.

NB!

  • Concepts are never defined as data models/entities as part of the ACI Data Dictionary.
