Definition | A defined area on an Airport used to facilitate Passenger access to Aircrafts as part of the boarding process, or used to give Passengers access to the Terminal as part of the disembarking process. Any Gate on a Terminal is uniquely identified by GateId. |

Comments | This can be coaching (bus) / transfer gates, remote gates, walk in gates. For departures the airline uses the facility to validate hand-luggage entitlement and suitability, check travel documents and “board” customers in their departure control system. |
