Using the ACI Data Dictionary
Introduction
The ACI Data Dictionary is freely available and available for use by all. Each term within the ACI dictionary is individually defined and can be interlinked, making it particularly valuable for documenting data models. Clearly defined data elements can significantly enhance efficiency and foster better collaboration among all stakeholders.
While the ACI Data Dictionary does not offer a comprehensive data model to address every data modelling challenge in the aviation industry, it serves as a foundational resource. It provides low-level building blocks—such as types and elements—that can be used to construct any required data model or data exchange. Its primary use is anticipated in the development of entities with low to medium complexity, especially in integration and service-oriented scenarios.
A key advantage of the dictionary is that, even when different entities or models are employed, transformation between them remains relatively simple. This is because they are built from the same consistent set of building blocks.
Examples of entities defined using the ACI Data Dictionary will be shown below very soon.
